Photography by Katherine Bree Walker

Engagement shoot? Why the hell not! There are so many reasons why you should have one, and we’re going to tell you why! For some couples, it’s a matter of making them feel comfortable in front of the camera, for others it’s about having more memories of the awesome couple that the two of them are. Here are our top 5 reasons why you should have an engagement shoot, accompanied by some super cool photos by Katherine Bree Walker and an amazing team of creatives.

A Celebration of Just the Two of You

On your wedding day, most of your pictures will be taken with people watching. Having an engagement shoot will mean an experience that is just about the two of you. Private moments, romantic and dreamy shots that will be cherished forever. You can get as simple or as crazy as you want with your chosen venue or place, and the two of you can have some fun!

Calm Your Nerves and Be at Ease

For most people, being in front of the camera is not their natural habitat, so having an engagement shoot beforehand will help you feel at ease in front of the camera. Anything new is bound to evoke nerves, this will get rid of them for the wedding day and hopefully, help you to relax when the photographer is snapping away… after all, natural photography rocks!

Getting to Know Your Photographer

Your photographer will likely be anywhere and everywhere you are on your wedding day; you’ll be spending a lot of time with them, so it’s important you get to know each other. You will get to see how they work, and they will get to know the two of you as a couple. A pre-wedding shoot will solidify your confidence and you’ll know what to expect when they turn up on the big day. It will also give you the opportunity to talk about specific shots you may want on the day.

Get Creative with the Picture

If you’re looking for creative ways to use the pictures, they could be added to your save the dates for a unique way to let your guests know about the big day. Or, how about using them on the wedding day itself, create a slideshow of your favourite images or use them on your tables to leave messages for your guests.

More Memories

Having an engagement shoot is just another way to make more memories together, plus it’s fun! Mostly, you won’t get many opportunities to get professional photographs together as a couple. So, a pre-wedding shoot is definitely a great excuse. You’ll have an amazing day out to make more memories for your love story.
