Every love story has its own charm, but Rosie and Kelly’s is full of those unexpected, real-life moments that make their relationship as special as it is. It all started at work - yep, the classic office romance. After a few hazy work nights out and plenty of laughs, they realised they were more than just colleagues. But the real magic happened when they spent their first Manchester Pride together. That’s when the sparks truly flew.
The Proposal: A Bench, A Bush, and A Whole Lot of Love
When it came to proposing, Rosie kept it low-key (and let’s be real, a little chaotic). She took Kelly on a weekend getaway to Bath, planning a perfect, romantic moment. But, with crowds everywhere and no quiet spot in sight, Rosie postponed it over and over. Finally, with just 30 minutes to spare before the car park ticket expired, Rosie popped the question... on a dirty bench behind a bush. It might not have been everyone’s fairy tale moment, but it was theirs and so them, and Kelly’s answer was a big, excited yes.
Five Years of Waiting and a Pandemic Pause
Life threw a little curveball with the pandemic, so patience was key as Rosie and Kelly waited out the pandemic chaos. They’d been dreaming about their wedding for ages, but the real planning didn’t kick off until they locked in their venue - about a year ahead of the big day.
The Big Day: A Kaleidoscope of Colour, Sparkle, and Fun
Rosie and Kelly drew inspiration from the social media of some of their local Manchester suppliers, including the incredible Stacey Hill who made their rings, Married To The Music for the tunes and Mariel Osborn who transformed the space - all who they discovered through The Un-Wedding’s Book Of Love directory 🥰 The couple had a clear vision for their wedding: bright, fun, and full of joy. They wanted to make sure their day was a party that represented their personalities - bold, colourful, and filled with unforgettable moments. Rosie and Kelly carefully planned every detail, making sure everything, from their outfits to their decor, was a reflection of their vibrant personalities.
The Outfits
Adding to the colour - forget matching white gowns - they didn’t want the traditional “matchy-matchy” look; instead, they went for colours that clashed in just the right way.
Rosie wore a bright coral pink Jenny Packham dress, while Kelly rocked a statement orange-red suit.
Llamas, Karaoke, and a Raffle: Wedding Highlights
The wedding was an absolute showstopper. To add a little extra joy to the day, they had a special animal guest appearance from llamas and alpacas - yes, llamas! Guests could pet and take photos with the adorable animals, adding a fun and quirky touch to the wedding.
After dinner, comedian Barbara Nice entertained the crowd with a hilarious raffle, bringing some belly laughs before hitting the dance floor.
And speaking of dancing - Rosie and Kelly had a separate karaoke room for guests who couldn’t resist singing their hearts out. It was all about having fun, and the karaoke room was the perfect spot for those who it brings as much joy and fun to as Kelly and Rosie.
Breaking Tradition (and Making Their Own Rules)
Rosie and Kelly’s wedding day wasn’t bound by tradition. They opted out of the standard norms, like walking down the aisle separately or having a maid of honour and best man. Instead, they walked down the aisle together with both of their parents, to a roaring cheer from all their guests. There were no formal bridal parties - just a close-knit group of best friends surrounding them, all ready to celebrate their day in style.
They did keep some traditions, like the cake cutting, speeches, confetti throwing, and a first dance, but these were just the highlights of a day that was all about fun, individuality, and, most importantly, love.
The Moment That Took Their Breath Away
It’s no surprise that one of Rosie and Kelly’s favourite moments was during their first dance. Following it being just the two of them it was the moment when their guests joined them and the dance floor morphed into a floor-wide celebration as everyone joined in that was “a europhric moment” that perfectly encapsulated the love, fun, and togetherness of their wedding day.
Advice for Future Newlyweds
Rosie and Kelly’s advice to other couples? “Don’t get bogged down by traditions you don’t care about. It’s your day, and it should be all about what you love. If there’s something you want, go for it - even if it’s llamas. And don’t be afraid to ask your friends and family for help. We couldn’t have done it without them!”
Their wedding wasn’t just a day - it was a celebration of who they are as a couple: fun, unique, and completely in love. From the llamas to the karaoke, their wedding was anything but ordinary.
