Who knew a simple quote could lead to something so special? When Dan saw Abi's Stars Wars quote on her 'Plenty Of Fish' bio, he quickly slid into her DMs. And it seems the force was with them from the start, as their connection is out of this world!

The Proposal

Abi and Dan had such a cool and unique approach to their engagement: they agreed to propose when each felt ready to take that next big step. Abi went first, choosing the romantic setting of sunset on Brighton Pier to present Dan with a heartfelt letter before awkwardly popping the question. Dan then waited until their summer 2023 holiday in Cyprus. As Abi emerged from the bathroom in their hotel room, she found Dan not searching for something he'd dropped, but down on one knee, ready to ask her the same life-changing question.

The Theme

Although pink was a key colour for Abi and Dan (what with pink being Dan’s favourite colour) they didn’t choose a theme. Instead, they focused on planning a day that involved having as much fun as possible with their family and friends, aiming to do what they wanted. Their goal was to create an intimate atmosphere, drawing inspiration from DIY decor and backyard weddings to enhance their dry hire venue.

Abi designed and made the jaw-dropping décor and all the awesome signage.

Make New Traditions

The only tradition they kept was that Abi chose to take Dan’s surname - but only because it was the cooler than hers! They trashed the rest in favour of things that suited them better including:

- Getting ready together.

- Arriving together.

- Walking down the aisle together, along with their gorgeous dog.

- A comedy filled ceremony that included a quotes quiz and zero mush!

- Fewer many groups/portrait photos.

- No sit down meal.

- No wedding cake cake (they smashed a pinata instead).

- No first dance.

- No speeches.

The Planning

Abi said that “being very untraditional, it all came together very quickly.” In the 9 months (ish) it took to plan their wedding, Abi and Dan threw out the rule book to avoid all the awkward moments they had both experienced as guests at other weddings. This couple chose their suppliers SO well, and these top-notch pros brought their A-game. Abi and Dan’s suppliers made the day extraordinary, not just by creating an incredible vibe but also by ensuring everything ran smoothly. I would defy anyone to not have fun at this wedding—I mean the activities alone were so much fun! 👀

Abi and Dan took charge of the decorations, and boy, did they nail it! Abi designed and made the jaw-dropping décor which transformed the dry hire space into a stunning reflection of their vision. With every detail meticulously planned, she brought their dream wedding to life, turning an ordinary venue into an extraordinary celebration. From the handmade pompom and ribbon chair decorations to the incredible signage, Abi even created their pinata Sven (as he was named after living with the couple for months).

Abi and Dan knew a traditional sit-down meal wasn’t for them; they were all about keeping it fun and true to their relationship. They opted for a pizza ‘wedding breakfast’—because who doesn't love pizza? To keep the vibes playful and nostalgic, they included mini golf and a fabulous drag act, echoing their favorite early dates, and what they still love to do.

The Outfits

Abi and Dan decided to go all in on pink for their big day, and it was a choice that paid off in vibrant style! They hunted down their outfits online from high street stores, perfectly balancing budget with fabulousness, and found pieces they’d want to rock again.

Their pink ensembles were the ultimate combo of drama, comfort, and fun—adding a lively splash of colour that elevated the entire vibe of the wedding. Abi’s gown, complete with pockets (a true game-changer!), was so comfy that she didn’t even bother with the second outfit she had stashed at the venue. Their coordinated choice of pink not only showcased their shared sense of style but also brought an extra element of unity to their wedding.

The Details

Abi and Dan put their budget in all the right places by booking incredible suppliers and, luckily, Abi’s awesome DIY skills and keen eye for styling came free! From the incredible ceremony to the fabulous decor and entertainment, every detail was thoughtfully planned to reflect their unique personalities. This unforgettable day was perfect in every way for this gorgeous couple, and their attention to detail ensured that their guests couldn't help but enjoy the celebration too.

SO much fun! Wedding guests enjoying retro and nostalgic games that have been put on the table.
