‘Pretty in Pink’ 80s Style Wedding Inspiration With Punk Vibes
Pretty pink punk is the perfect way to describe this modern vintage 80s style wedding inspiration. Inspired by the classic cult film ‘Pretty in Pink’ (LOVE) it was created to inspire couples who are planning a small intimate city elopement but still want a big wedding vibe.
If you’re looking for cool vintage vibes in a modern way, then take notes and feast your eyes on this…
Photographer Stephanie Butt says; “We wanted to show couples that you can have fun and be tasteful when having a theme on your wedding day. The concept doesn’t need to be literal, using it as inspiration or subtle elements in your styling will bring the idea to life."
City locations are perfect for an 80s style wedding and Liverpool, widely known for its architecture and culture has so many urban and industrial areas for photograph opportunities. These were definitely made the most of, so think outside the box when it comes to venues and locations for your wedding day.
This 80s style wedding is all about the journey of the couple, starting with an intimate breakfast for two, getting ready together, and then wandering the streets of Liverpool, traveling by train, and capturing super cool shots along the way!
Stylist Becky of R&R Weddings and Events created a perfect punk vibe, with a mixture of pink hues with accents of black. Some upcycled records, which we love, used as placemats added the perfect rock and roll touch. The 80s inspired stationery by It’s Fancy That and beautiful blooms from Olive Owl Flowers, added a pretty touch to this punk dining experience. And, the best thing about all of it is the team made sure it was all transportable, meaning if you have multiple city locations you are wanting to go to on your wedding day, you can use it at them all! How cool is that?!
Stephanie says; “We wandered to independent record shop 81 Renshaw, capturing some gorgeous couple portraits, creating a subtle nod to that iconic scene in Pretty in Pink. This shows couples how you can plan the journey through the city, choosing your favourite cafe, bar, or even a record shop to create some meaningful portraits.”
The couple, Ellie and Jake bring an edgy fun vibe to this 80s style wedding. Jake, dressed in a simple shirt and jacket, brings a smart-casual vibe and adds personality to his slick, cool look.
The bridal dress by Alyce Jayne Bridal is the perfect mix of modern vintage. The pink polka dot tulle paired with Converse is inspired by the film’s prom scene and a fitting nod to the 80s laid-back cool style. Paired with a headband veil and statement earrings by Victoria Louise Accessories and a modern twist on 80s hair and makeup Michelle Yates and Andrea Baines MUA this whole alternative bridal look needs some heart eyes, as big as those dreamy pearl earrings!
