California Love: A True Rock N Roll Love Story
It's true... 'California, knows how to party'... and this rock n roll bride and groom, Daisy and Blaine, show everyone how it's done!
The Brooklyn-based newlyweds met five years ago. Daisy was working in a bar and Blaine would come in after rehearsals with his band, Brothers NYC.
'' We became friends first, but I thought he was adorable from the first time I laid eyes on him.
Blaine was incredibly shy... I think the boldest move he made was sending me a 'Happy Valentines Day' text....
... So, a few months into our friendship I said 'When are you going to take me out?' ''
Fashion designer Daisy, has her own lingerie and swimwear label 'Daisy & Elizabeth' as well a super-cool online store for the modern cowgirl, The Wild West.
Daisy planned the whole wedding herself in just 8 months from across the country. The couple chose to tie the knot in Ojai, California. The mountainous SoCal location is a perfect backdrop for rock n rollers.
Let's talk about the outfits!
I LOVE the pretty, bohemian gown with its little angel sleeves and cut out back... perfect for the Californian sun, but who designed it?...
... Daisy designed her own wedding dress! I know?! How many brides can say that?!
One of my favourite things about this wedding is Daisy's subtle transformation 'blushing bride' to 'festival bride' later in the day... see the gallery at the end for more pics.
Now, let's take a moment to appreciate the guys....
FINALLY! ... the guys are owning it!
'' Given the chance, I knew the guys would absolutely love to each own custom, chain-stitched Nudie's Rodeo Tailors-style suits.
So, I sourced fabrics, had them each choose their own colors and embroidered designs and then had the fabric chain-stitched by the very talented Lacy Van Court of Die Trying. ''
The ceremony took place at the Ojai Rancho Inn.
The day was filled with the most beautiful little details, all carefully planned by Daisy who then hired a coordinator to take care of business of the day.
'' If you're planning your own wedding, it's nice to rely on the help of your friends and family the day of, but only to a certain extent.
You don't want them to feel overworked or overwhelmed so I'd definitely recommend hiring a day-of coordinator to just take care of all the last minute details and to make sure everything runs smoothly.
Also try to roll with the punches and just let go a bit. Things will inevitably not go the way you planned, and you have to be ready for that and willing to just go with plan B. ''
This is exactly what Daisy and Blaine had to do when their Rabbi was struck down with mono just days before the wedding and a stand-in had to be arranged at short notice.
''... And lastly, remember to eat, and enjoy the food that you so painstakingly chose! ''
I second this!... I often wish I could go back in time to my own wedding and have a chance to eat the food again... properly...
Both Daisy and Blaine wanted to honour the traditional Jewish traditions, like the Chuppah, the Kettubah and the 7 blessings, but with their own modern twist.
Most of the guests weren't Jewish, but that didn't stop everyone from getting up and dancing a traditional Jewish dance whilst Daisy and Blaine were lifted into the air on chairs!
See more from this rock n roll love story in the gallery below, along with a list of the awesome suppliers involved. This looks like one hell of a wedding... so many colours! The guests went on to dance the night away to some live music from native SoCal girl, Jamie Wyatt... both Daisy and blaine are HUGE fans.
I'm sure you'll agree, these guys sure know how to party!
