Ok, here’s the truth… when I was getting married there is no way I would have been caught dead in any sort of wedding memorabilia… you know, like ‘Bride-To-Be’ or ‘Wifey’ T Shirts and the like. And Ben is definitely not the sort to want to wear a pair of ‘Groom’ socks or cufflinks! No shade to anyone who likes these things because it’s a personal choice and… well, some people like labels!
When I first decided to have an online shop as part of The Un-Wedding brand, I knew I wanted to create some slightly less cheesy and less obvious wedding apparel for Un-Wedding couples, and to some extent, I think I managed that by bringing in some famous Un-Wedding slogans like ‘Love Forever’ and ‘Til Death’ which became best sellers! However, I’d chosen to placate the mass market who enjoy the short-lived label of being a ‘bride’ with designs like our ‘Very Important Bride’ and ‘Kiss The Bride’ range, also best-sellers!
But the thing is, I’ve never really been that comfortable with the idea of people buying something that will be so short-lived and I’m also ever-conscious of the fact that labels like ‘Bride’ and ‘Groom’ feel outdated because they simply don’t fit everyone. I mean, I hope all those VIB’s and KTB’s out there still loved their wedding T-Shirts and wear them to bed or for lounging around but I wanted to design some fresh, new wedding merch that appeals to lovers in love without trying to put them in a box!

I feel like this is something I would have Googled back in the day when I was planning my wedding if I was looking for something cute to wear for our pre-wedding celebrations, the morning of or the morning after. Ok so, me and Ben have a designated spot in our wardrobe whereby we hang our ‘shared’ clothes… mainly tops, although I do sometimes lounge around in Ben’s joggers too. Does anyone else do this?! We’ve actually always shared clothes, even when we were just friends. I guess it helps that we like a lot of the same things… mainly black tops and T Shirts, but it’s nice. And yes, it helps that we are similar in size and it won’t work for everyone but if it works for you, do it! The Un-Wedding has always tried to be inclusive when it comes to our size range on garments but it can be hard to keep enough stock in a range of size ratios. Fortunately, our shift to a dropping shipping model means that all of our garments are now made-to-order meaning that we don’t have to hold stock and aren’t limited to key sizes.
